What People Are Saying

I just wanted to say thank you.... When employees first came in and were asked to complete the sheet to have their blood pressure checked, I heard a lot of “I don’t need my blood pressure checked.” By the end of the meeting, about 99% of the employees completed the paper, stood in a short line and had their #’s checked. Even after the meeting, supervisors heard several employees saying they needed to make appointments to see their doctor and follow up w/ their blood pressure checks.

Orlando Heart Specialists is extremely proactive on educating our patients, their families and the community. It is gratifying to partner with Project Pressure and people like yourself.

I think Project Pressure overall is an excellent form of community service. Speaking from personal experience, I have met people like myself who have relatives with cardiac health issues. This project encourages people with cardiac family history to think twice and make a proactive decision to be checked.

During a social conversation many months ago a friend mentioned that Project Pressure would be in our area sometime soon. The information was quickly disregarded as I went on with my busy life. After a few months, tho, I began to notice billboards on I-4, commercials on the radio and even some signage as I passed a local Centra Care - all about Project Pressure. Weeks went by, then I received an email from my children's school - Orangewood Christian -inviting me to a blood pressure screening in conjunction with Project Pressure. I chuckled, remembering that first casual conversation about the subject and thought to myself, "This Project Pressure is everywhere!"

Weeks after that I had an appointment at my OBGYN office and saw again some written information, boldly labeled "Project Pressure". At that appointment they took my blood pressure, as usual; but this time instead of ignoring the nurse and moving on to the weigh in, I asked her what my blood pressure was — and how my numbers related to good/normal blood pressure. Thankfully, my blood pressure is low, but I did want you all at Project Pressure to know that the bombardment of information in Orlando has certainly increased my awareness of the importance of knowing and watching my blood pressure. Project Pressure certainly has been a public service. Thanks! — Downtown Resident

I truly believe this is the type of program that will change health care in the U.S. We need to teach people how to be responsible for their own health, and not to tune out the numbers of BP and LDL/ HDL, but tune in and set goals. Thanks for making Florida healthier. We will do our part! — Central Florida Physician

Congratulations!!!!! I am so proud of Project Pressure and now seeing the numbers coming from the hospital it is evident what a huge role this has played in the community. — Florida Hospital

Time well spent...Project Pressure's presence on campus...three times during the fall semester. Students, faculty and staff got their blood pressure checked and learned more about what the pressure readings mean, the warning signs and how important it is to have your blood pressure checked regularly. I… encourage you to continue the good work. — University of Central Florida

I would like to thank Project Pressure for promoting a very important community health campaign in a FUN way! Involving our community businesses and utilizing our government resources together has benefited all that participate. This program helps save lives. — Orange County Fire Rescue

We had a teacher whose blood pressure was higher than normal. She said that no everything is fine, it must be wrong. (After being encouraged) please get it rechecked. Several days later she was in the hospital because of her BP. — School Teacher

“Hello, I think it is great what you are doing for the community! May God Bless those involved! — Resident

Project Pressure came out to (our school). It was a success due to the fact that they saved several employees lives that day. I asked all staff to please get their blood pressure check because of the goal that project pressure was trying to meet for Orlando. They did and I found out that some staff members didn't realize how high their pressure was. They convinced them to please go to the doctor or the hospital because it shouldn't be this high it is dangerous. My own blood pressure was a little high and I am on pressure medicine. This made me aware that I need to check my own more often and tell my doctor. I also saw many from the community come out to just get their pressure checked. Everyone on staff was helpful and they even brought out the fire department that talked to the students at Lake Gem. They got to ask questions and get information for their parents on fires and health facts on blood pressure. I hope that they will come to our school next year. — Public School Teacher

I would like to personally thank you for the wellness challenge last week. I enjoyed it and also learned some very important information about myself and wouldn’t have even known…if it weren’t for the event. My blood pressure was actually high... I was told by the individual checking my bp that I should take my pressure for the next couple of weeks and record it, then schedule an appt. w/my Dr. for follow up. I decided to follow thru w/her suggestion.... My bp was at stroke level 199/100 ~ I had to go to ER…after numerous tests (all normal ~ thank goodness) I am now on medication to control it. Had it not been for the wellness event my outcome could have been very different. — Corporate Employee
